Hi,
I'm toying with a mid-wing on the Razorback. It would solve a number of issues, but introduce a few of its own (as one would expect). Not least of which is the position of the spar carry-through in relation to the pilot's knees. Actually, as it stands at the moment (on paper only) the spar will be positioned relatively well, and I shouldn't have any issues getting under it. But it certainly plays havoc with what I was hoping to do panel-wise...
So I have been tossing around some ideas. First, wing taper. If I taper the wing maybe 40% and keep the trailing edge straight, this will move the spar forwards a bit. It will be more difficult to build the wing, of course, but it will give me more space in the cockpit. My main concern is with wing tip stall. Riblett does not consider this a major concern (pg 100, last para). Your comments?
In addition, a moderate wing sweep (5 - 8 %) would complete my need for space in the cockpit. However, I have read that wing sweep contributes to tip stall also. Again, Riblett seems to indicate that this is not the whole truth (pg 101). Again, any comments on this welcome.
