I found many sites that seem to say they have 7075t6 tubing, but I have to email them for a quote. I have not found any that just state their prices. I probably will email them, but I'm just wondering if anyone here has already got quotes from different companies and can give me an estimate of how much more the stronger alloy costs.
My application is a torque tube, as a cheaper alternative to carbon fiber. I'm aware of how brital 7075 can be, but I think that will be a benefit in my application.
And does anyone know the elastic limit shear strength of the alloys? I think they are 40 ksi, 50, and 73, but I need to know for sure.
And is bi-directional 45/45 carbon fiber tubing a lot stronger in shear than 7075t6? Or does it depend on the circumfrance?
