I have a rotax 447 on a minimax 1100R and I have always doubted wheather or not it is really giving me all the power it is capable of. Well, today I got left behind by an airbike with a 447 and I really started wondering about my engines performance.
My 447 swings a 62" ground adjustable GSC prop using 2.58:1 gear reduction. I cruise at 55mph at 6000rpm burning more than 4gph. Max rpm in level flight is 6700. I am starting to think I have an exhaust tuning problem.
My 447 uses a modified straight exhaust that attaches directly to the Y pipe without a 90deg elbow, do you guys think the shorter pipe length do to the elbow not being used could be hurting my performance?
