Trying to nail down (no pun intended) a proper way to select rivet size....one source I found says "diameter of rivet=D,
combined thickness of material riveted=T, so D should equal at least T and no more than 3T".

But this source didn't seem THAT definitive, didn't distinguish between hard/soft rivets, flush or universal, dimpled or countersunk, etc etc.

My project will use solid, flush rivets, attaching .025 skin to .025 ribs (2024 T3). What size rivets are being used "out there" for similar projects??

Found a wonderful old 1942 Walt Disney cartoon showing how to determine the length of a rivet and other basics but not the diameter. (Google "Walt Disney 1942 riveting"; it's entertaining)

Thanks in advance for your time answering.:ban:
