Just wondering, on a wooden plane gussets are used at intersections of different pieces of wood. I have heard the squared or trimmed gusset as shown in the first picture has the same strength as the rounded gusset shown in the second picture. Is this true? If so the squared gusset would be better because it is lighter, correct? The plane i will be building has hundreds of the rounded gussets. I could probably save more than a pound using the squared gussets.
