Well, she loves me. We went to Air-Venture 2008 in Oshkosh (haven't been there since 1981!) where she announced that my birthday present was an EAA membership, and on a whim we began to toy with the idea of building an airplane.
I love the looks and the specs of the Cozy mark IV, don't love the build time, but I'll live with it.
No less an authority than Chris Heintz, of Zenith Aircraft, said in an article "Historically, composites had their peak a couple of years ago. Today it is known (and proven by all those homebuilder "workshops") that only specialists can come up with a reliable and perfect structure..."
Now it must be noted that Chris designs all-metal aircraft, so he may be backing his own horse in the race, but what do you composite builders say? How challenging is it, say, to build(up) the left and right wings so that they weigh the same, have essentially the same profile, the same lift and drag properties, and so that I'm not fighting the stick to keep my Cozy flying straight and level?
I'm wondering, too, if any chemist is working on resins for composite building that don't emit such hazardous vapors.
Whaddaya know?....
