When one looks at the side of a wood fuselage like on an Emeraude one sees the horizontal longerons with verticals. When designing this type of structure does the column strength with the fixity of their attachment set the size of these verticals? Usually I see the term "pinned" to define how rigidly pieces of an airplane are attached. If I glue on a piece of plywood to the side of this structure consider the verticals more rigidly attached since they cannot easily bow in or out of position? When I have one side of this fuselage together do I analyze it as a beam with the verticals acting as the shear web?
