We have a Pitts S1C with damage to the lower left wing from a ground loop. The rear spar is cracked/split (longitudinally at about the middle of the spar) from the tip almost to the compression rib. This S1C has the short wings so the compression rib is the rib next to the tip rib. Looking at 43.13 it sure looks like we should be able to repair the spar by gluing the crack back together and adding 1/4" doublers along each side out to the tip. This should make the spar stronger than it was originally we think. Do any of you have experience with this repair on the Pitts or other aircraft? Any suggestions?

Is this the typical gound loop damage you would expect when the tip hits the ground?

Looking for all the expert opinions we can find.

Dave
