I am building a HiMax and would like others opinions on the possiblity of mounting a Hirth 2702 inverted with the PSR unit pointed up. This could make cooling the engine more efficient because the air could be directed directly to the head and upper cylinder cooling fins rather than being routed around the PSR. I would like to keep the heads below the top of the cowling, as would result if the engine is mounted upright with the PSR unit pointing down. I understand that oil in the fuel left in the carb will eventually wind up in the plugs. Are there other negative effects of such mounting?
