I am in the process of putting all the info together for my sctach build on a sonex. The plans call for 6061, which is obviously just fine....however, seeing as how 2024 has a higher sheer and tensile strength for extremely minimal sacrific in weight... (i believe 2.75g/cc vs 2.90g/cc), what do ya'll believe to be the downside of fabing the internal sheetetal parts out of 2024 rather then 6061.

Weight is seriously not an issue... if ALL the sheetmetal was replaced witb 2024, MAYBE 3-5lbs would be added...

What ya'all think??
