I've Loved aircraft for a long time
grew up vacationing at my grandparents house in myrtle beach and watching airshows
and I've always really wanted to build my own

I had my eye on building a larger more expensive aluminum craft, but I took a step back and decided to try to learn what i'm getting myself into first by starting with a smaller project.

Then I saw the Pietenpol air camper, a small, simple, cheap design that from what I've learned is considered a pretty good design and has a very short crash history for such an old design.

I was just curious if it would be possible to modify the design for aluminum construction.
I think that would be lighter than the original wooden design, which brings up the questions of how much modification would be necessary.

I'll be honest, I'm really not sure what i'm getting into, but that's why I'm getting into it. I'd love to learn and maybe eventually own my own aircraft.
