I'm helping a guy in our glider club install a Becker 4201 radio in his glider, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to connect all the grounds inside of the radio connector. I've attached a poorly-drawn schematic with a few items left out for clarity.
Basically, I'm needing to run two shielded, twisted pair wires, one for the mono headphone jack (pin 2 AF-HI and pin 3 AF-LO) and another for the mic jack (pin 18 MIC, pin 14 MIC GND). The two shields, PTT switch, headphone jack pin 3, and ground terminals 13 and 25 all need to be grounded. In particular, I'm not sure how to ground the two shields properly in that the wires they envelope are both on the opposite ends of the 25-pin connector. Pins 13 and 25 are both grounds but I am not sure if they are connected internal to the radio, or if the case is connected to them. There might be room for two 22 GA wires in each socket of the connector, but certainly no more than that. I was planning on running two separate wires from 13 and 25 out of the connector to a common ground elsewhere. Any ideas on the proper way to do this?
