Thanking everyone in advance for your responses, it seems redundant to try and track so much information down when it has more and likely been done many times over.
Does anyone have a good source for carbon/graphite tubing? I am interested in the possibility of using it to replace 4130/mild steel tubing structure for ultralight construction.
What are some good ways already figured out to join and gusset said tubing into a typical truss structure?
Also carbon/graphite tubing applicable to replace spar(s) and tail boom in a ultralight design?
Ball-park weave and weight of fabrics applicable for wing ribs (will look like typical aluminum ribs?)?
Other applicable raw materials for stuffs like landing gear/spring, wheels, struts, propeller, seat/fuel-tank?
Are there other fabrics that compete with Oratex for strength and weight when finished (painted) that are less expensive? (For wings and tail feathers mostly)
Oratex offers a Mylar film intended to replace paint and is supposed to be lighter, is this sufficient uv protection for a composite tube and fabric design?
Please refrain from opinions on my sanity as I am sure that has already been established.
And thanks again, Blane.
