Can anyone recommend a good book or Internet resource for an introduction to statics for those who have no background?

I have Bruhn and Peery but I think they assume too much for the average Joe to pick them up and run with it. Perhaps Statics for Dummies? There are lots of YouTube videos as well, but I haven't found one just yet that is basic enough that I'm comfortable recommending it to the total beginner.

We get a lot of questions around here related to statics and it would be good to have a beginner-oriented resource to point folks toward.
