I got a set of fairings for my plane to cover the 1.5" lift strut tubes and I'm looking for a non-permanent way of installing them.

It looks like most people install them with rivets but I'd like to be able to remove them once a year to check the strut for corrosion and whatnot.

I was thinking of drilling and tapping a small hole in the strut and then locktite in a small bolt instead of a rivet. Any reason why this would be a bad idea?

Alternatively I was thinking of maybe using a hoseclamp on each end and simply cutting a notch in the fairing to friction fit it. This has the added bonus of not putting any holes in my lift struts but it might be finicky to install.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Other ideas?
