Ethanol and older 2 stroke pre ethanol.

I operate an older 2 stroke from well before the ethanol days...the only tuning info I have are from that period...carb and old points ignition.

What consideration would I need to take into account to use this engine with modern gar and 5% ethanol.

ie would the timing need a different setting from the 16.5deg BTDC the manual gives...I have heard it said that ethanol burns faster and have heard it burns slower...I don't know what the believe.

I know that some of its rubber parts may not like ethanol.

P.S. its not an a/c engine.
