The Carbon Dragon I am modifying was originally designed with Flaperons and no Spoilers...They then added a drag brake behind the pilot head on the fuselage which word has it was difficult to operate....took lots of mussel. At least one builder has added spoilers on the wing. I presently am planning to eliminate the drag brake and have spoilers on the wing. The original used flaps of -15 and +5 degree. I have been told + flap setting of 5 degree is for better cruse and it is nice to have negative flap for slower thermal and to land slower. The down side to this is the control linkages are more complicated and obviously heavier. Given the nature of this aircraft as a very slow micro-lift glider what does the list think as to the necessity of having flaps.
