Sonex just posted a video of a flight of the new B-Model Waiex. It's fitted with a turbo Aerovee. The B-model modification is now the "standard" Sonex and Waiex for those ordering kits today. It's still very much like the original model, but the fuselage reaches its widest point at the firewall rather than at the seatback. The new arrangement offers a little more room in the cabin (near the instrument panel, it's no wider at the seatback), provides a little more real estate for wider engines, and allows a few more gallons of fuel to be carried.

For those interested in the numbers (at 8500 MSL):
At 37.5" MAP: 190 MPH TAS, 6.07 GPH
At 35" MAP: 174 MPH TAS, 7.29 GPH
At 30" MAP: 162 MPH TAS, 4.78 GPH

I'm not sure about the reason for the counterintuitive fuel flow numbers, but those readings were on the instruments.

Video is .
