Last fall I needed to inspect the inside of my wings. There are a few inspection plates, of course, but you can't see much through them, and mirrors and flashlights never seem to work that well. I had borrowed an electronic borescope from a friend, but its field of view is limited and the viewing screen is tiny. Instead, I hit on the idea using my smartphone... I just put into video recording mode (with the light on), stuck it into the inspection hole, and slowly rotated it 360°. The resultant video can then be viewed on a larger computer screen in slow or stop motion, and the moving picture sometimes gives a better perspective on some details than a still image. Afterwards, I showed the videos to the A&P who was doing my condition inspection; he liked what he saw.
If you have one of those bluetooth cameras that can be controlled by a smartphone, you could do even better, for example attach it to a stick and run it down inside, all the while watching from the phone screen.
