Over-center canopy latch

Has anyone ever seen an over-center latch holding a canopy closed rigged to be opened from either side. Something like this is plenty strong, but would only open from the inside.

I was thinking that it might be possible to put a small bolt through the handle and out through a hole in the canopy ending in a small, streamlined, brightly-colored knob for emergency actuation from outside.
