With all things considered, what are your takes between to two? The goal here is to achieve larger speed difference between stall and level flight. We can go with a larger reflex wing or a smaller wing with a fowler flap (maybe a double sloted fowler flap). While the larger wing definitely has higher drag, it is less complex to fabricate. It might just come down to the difference of maximum speeds. So at what speed do you think one starts to look better than the other?
