Their website (Great Plains Aircraft Supply Co.,Front Drive Engine Specifications) shows that for the 2176cc 80 hp front drive engine, the maximum power output is 80 hp at 3600 rpm. The continuous power is shown to be 76 hp at 3400 hp.

That's not much difference. At 75% power (the usual value for continuous power), the VW engine would be at 60 hp. So isn't their value of 76 hp a bit high? Or can anyone tell me if they actually have good experience with the engine running continuously at 3400rpm and 76 hp?

Also, for preliminary sizing purposes, what's the usual cruise power for a 80hp 2176cc VW?

And anyone know where I can get data about the fuel consumption of the 2176cc engine?
