Dual (lateral) tow hooks.

I just found this: Screenshot_2015-12-16_17-45-30.png
As you can see, it appears to have dual tow hooks, one either side of the fuselage. It's from a video entitled "Oldtimer_víkend_2014_Schulgleiter_SG_38_Grunau_Baby_II_b_VSM_40_Démant.webm". It's oviously not the Primary Glider or the Grunau Baby, so i assume it's the VSM_40_Démant.
I can see an advantage in this of getting the tow vector in exactly the right place, but are there any disadvantages (other than the increase in complexity).
