After many years of design and work, the first prototype Innovator designed by Richard Hogan of Commuter Craft has flown and is in the process of finishing up it's initial 40 hrs.
While I can't yet talk specifically about the flight tests yet until the POH is finalized, I can tell you that it is exceeding all expectations with regards to it's outright speed, handling, stalls (or lack of), slow speed flight, etc. In fact the test pilot is starting to have fun (as you'll see in the video) with the plane now that critical aspects of the plane have been tested.
This is a truly unique 3 surface all composite (CF) design, that will eventually have folding wings and an optional roadable version will be available. Being the first prototype, it is a bit heavier than the production version will be but still fly's like a homesick angle. Power is an IOx340 ECI/Titan. Prop is a Catto 3 bladed
While our pilot was talking to the prop manufacturer he couldn't believe the top speed we are achieving for the RPM and will be re-pitching the prop for additional top end and better acceleration. We have verified this data with a second air speed indicator as well as a mechanical tach to insure the Dynon tach and airspeed is correct.
The plane will now be down for a short period soon as we get it ready to go to Sebring for the US Sport Aviation Expo January 20-23, 2016.
