I'm looking into designing my own simple ultralight. It will be made mostly of wood (that's why I'm posting this here). I have a few questions:
1.What are the main points that need to be taken into account for a good design?
2. For a really, slow, light, low flying plane, would a thick wooden spar be strong enough?
3. Should the center of gravity be lined up with the center of lift, or should they be offset somewhat?
4.How would I estimate the center of gravity during the design stages?
5. What airfoil would you guys recommend that's not too sensitive but still reasonably easy to control, stable, and that doesn't need a lot of speed?
Thanks!
