I have a Slick 2220 on my half vw. Timing set at 26 deg btdc, the prop kicks back agressively when hand propping. If I bring the timing a few degrees toward tdc, the kickback disappears but the power reduces a bit. I think the impulse coupling is cutting out too soon and the engine is going too slow to shift to the 26 deg timing. If that is the case, is the impuse coupling adjustable?
