    I'll pass it along.

Update: Nick has flown off his phase 1 restrictions (restrictions on the first 40 flight hours) and has been flying the heck out of it. He's loving every minute of it.

...say what you will about Volksplanes, they're damn fun airplanes!

I have great time for VPs. they have their limits but they do give great grin factor. It's just excellent to see old-school aircraft getting built.

    Fritz,

I used to fly CV-22s with Nick when he owned his Cheetah. Would love to contact both of you to get more info on his VP-1. Thanks...

    Respectfully,
    Kip Giles

    Hi Kip,

Shoot me a PM and I'll make sure we all get in contact. (Click on the "FritzW" above my VP avitar and click "Private Message", send me your email address)

    Fritz

EDIT: I guess it'd be easier for me to just PM you.

I like the continuous, elongated turtledeck and the gear.

So do I. A friend of mine had a VP-1 and I overhauled the 1600 cc VW engine for him. Flew great, had a little heating problems at first until we got better airflow to the oil cooler. He had one side of the gear fold under part way, but no damage except the gear. The wire braced gear leg will take very little side load, if built to the plans.
    I liked the airplane.

    Re: Nick Pelhan's VP-1

Last I heard he was still flying it but had it on the market. I don't know if he's sold it yet.

He wants to build something bigger and faster so he can fly with his family.
