I just checked on the Terrafugia site and find that they are now intending to 'leverage' the immense power of the internet to tap into the huge pool of design talent that is out there --their screed goes on about the "open source' movement which draws on the combined wisdom of the crowd and how the fate of mankind is in the balance with their design awaiting it's time to come forth and solve the ills of congestion and much else -- anyway it is an eloquent call for farsighted individuals to benefit mankind by giving Terrafugia their best ideas of how to perfect the TFX "VTOL" flying car for the masses .
There are further explanations of how Terrafugia is leading the way to this new world and cannot accept all those seeking to join in their venture but this is a way for others to become part of it ; there are a set of conditions for the competition (if that is the correct term -there are cash prizes) and various details and rules etc etc (it seems that not much can actually be changed given the constraints imposed ,but...)
Then we come to the prizes and the monetary incentive for you to redesign their million dollar vehicle for them -- how about?
FIRST PRIZE (drum roll)... opens envelope to hushed silence .... $1000. !!!! (yes, you heard it right, not ten or one hundred dollars but ONE THOUSAND !! -[-Key in applause]
And that is not all!! --SECOND and THIRD, FOURTH, ETC ETC prizes totalling almost ANOTHER $1000 !! You could retire after winning this one .
Would HBA members please form an orderly line to apply .....
