See, Dacron is like wine... it becomes more valuable through... aging... :-/ Ditto for wood glue.

Planes covered in dust... and people like me dying to fly. To quote the Wicked Witch of the West... "what a world, what a world...!"

Great Plains conversion Turbo VW engine, propeller, engine mount, and instrument panel *loaded* with instruments... $600...! Spartanburg, SC...

Unknown functionality, all of it... but a bargain for somebody handy at rebuilding airplane engines.. considering their kits cost 10x... or... $6,000. Too much engine for me.

You buy it, Altimeter, compass, vertical speed, and spirit level goes to me as finders fee, as I have no instruments :-)
No instruments? You have no eyes or the seat of your pants?

My grandfather flew 171 combat missions in the P-38, P-39, and P-47; my dad was an air traffic controller and 170 pilot; my mom sold travel luggage to Mohamed Atta, the 9/11 hijacker mastermind; I'm restoring Dorothy, a Volmer Jensen VJ-24W motor glider I bought on eBay for $38, and Alice, a Chotia Woodhopper I bought on Barnstormers for $99. I'm in no hurry; doing it to fly, and to learn how to restore hopeless case ultralights.

One can't have too many screwdrivers.
I've never met an airplane or helicopter that I didn't like

Yep, I have to cover them with towels, lest I bump my heads into them, considering the fuselage spans my living room and kitchen; I have to sit under the fuselage to use my main computer or get to my microwave. My solution was towels... after I cut my forehead once on a sharp piece of tail gusset I hit when standing up. My plane has already drawn first blood, but not of the enemy. :-/ Probably won't be the last time.

I used philips screwdrivers, so I wouldn't unnecessarily tear the threads up on the bolts or widen the holes. They hold it together good enough for a photo and to keep it looking like a plane, and not just a bunch of parts in the corner of a room. Lots of bolts are in, but not torqued, just there. I actually have safety wire running through many of the fuselage holes, to keep the wooden blocks inside from sliding out of line with the hole in the fuselage, as they are a bugger to get lined back up. So a bolt wouldn't go through anyway, with safety wire in the way... no problem for a smaller diameter non-threaded screwdriver though.

I'm not doing anything with it right now, it's just sitting there while I job search every day underneath it, which is very depressing. But I don't like having it apart in a pile of pieces; I'm afraid if I were to get killed in a motorcycle accident when fetching groceries, nobody would know the parts were anything more than random junk in a corner. At least this way my plane would have a fighting chance. How can you not "miss seeing and recognizing" a plane inside a house.

Harbor freight's finest screwdrivers? I knew they had to be good for something. Shouldn't damage any reasonably hard metal, like aluminium!
