Hey all.

The engine I picked up isn't a Kawasaki, it's a Yamaha. 70's era, but exact year unknown.

Anyone know a way I can pull info from the serial # to see if it'a a 440-a or 440-b.

It has a single carb, and a tuned pipe, was in a snowmobile,
then retasked to a go-kart project which was abandoned in order to concentrate on a Jr. Dragster.

I'm not sure if the tuned pipe will work well in an aircraft application.

Was told the motor in it's current form should be making at least 38-40 HP, with 45 being a very distinct possibility.

Any tips for this motor, or info?

Thanks in advance.
