Can a group of people get together and build an experimental airplane and co-own it?

Most of us are familiar with flying clubs where 10-20 people own a certified airplane. Can 10-20 people get together and build an experimental airplane and later own it?

Has anybody done this?

What legal structure would be needed? LLC?
