I'm currently learning all about tools - and loving it - in preparation for my build. I've discovered that there are two types of file: those with a tang and those without.
Exhibit a) A curved tooth file with a tang
Exhibit b) A curved tooth file without a tang
The first type takes a "standard" handle:
whereas the second type takes a handle which looks a bit like a wood plane:
The first type is the type that I've seen in all the videos and articles describing how to file aluminium, but I can't help but feel that the second type would be more comfortable and efficient to use.
Has anyone used the second type of file? Has anyone used both? How do they compare?
