Help need to save an ME109 /MJ90

I posted this earlier in help wanted but it is probably better here as it won't get lost. The Reno museum was given there 503 this year and has no funding for a project like this right now. Here is the email that went out to it's supporters.

    IMEDIATE HELP NEEDED TO RESCUE

    THIS FULL SCALE FLYING REPRO

    OF A

    Messerschmitt BF-109

The Reno Aviation Museum has been donated this wonderful example of a WW2 historic aircraft. It is a full scale flying reproduction of a BF-109 meticulously built over the last twenty years. It has completed it's taxi test and awaits flight testing. The owner lost his medical and wants it to go to a good home. It is currently located in Long Island, NY and needs to be trucked to Stead Airport, NV. Approximately $ 5,000 dollars is needed is disassemble and transport it.

That is not true. The museum's non profit was approved earlier this year. We are currently looking two properties for location. The state of Nevada currently has no active aerospace museum, we will be the first.

As to your comment did you just join to show how stupid and uninformed you are. If you want to follow up check with the IRS or the state of Nevada. If that is all you have on airplanes you are I the wrong group!

Re: how many lies you tell..

As to the plane, the fund raising came up short, the weather came in before all the funds were raised. If the plane survives the winter then another attempt will be made in the spring. The money that was pledged was either not collected or return to person if they didn't want to donate to the museum for the building project. The money I donated went to the building project (that is for the a........ who thinks he knows everything)

    What an awful replica!
Landing gear, engine cowling, spiner.. all distorted so much from original shape...almost caricature style...

From the firewall back it's not so bad. The short gear probably comes with hopes of taming it on the ground (the Redfern Fokker Dr.I does the same) and the nose is likely a whole bunch of different compromises to get an air cooled engine to work. Inelegant, yes, but workable and nothing that a dedicated individual couldn't tidy up for static display.

What does it have for a powerplant? An O-200 Continental?

The plane is a 1:1 with a ranger 770 V-12. It needs the front cowl changed to look more original.

Surely you could find a sympathetic soul up in that neck of the woods that might move and store it through the remainder of Winter? Any Reno Racers, or Warbird folks up that way? How about someone from Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome?

If you take a look at the second pic you can get a better idea of how large this homebuilt is. I know the owner has been keeping it in someone else hanger for awhile before it got moved outside. It will be a nightmare to transport and require a crane to separate the fuselage from the wings. The wings are 7' 6" at the widest point and 33' long overall. Estimate the weight around 5000 lb. so moving and store will be an issue too. We have reached out to some other museums for help but know one is interested this time of the year. The museum at MCC will store and display for us until the building are finished.
