I want to make a gyro that is also a wing... I know way back before my time there was an autogyro called the Stauffer that acomplished this. I know this one is probably a dumb question but if I were to use a flat bottomed airfoil and angle it to the relative wind is there any chance that in flight it would function as a gyro even though the airfoil would be backwards just rotating because of angle of attack? Looking at the Stauffer they don't flip a wing 180 degrees when it goes to fixed wing flight. I don't see how else it would work?
