Gooday Everyone - I am new to this so here's my first stab at it - am now the proud 50% owner of a Nordic II that started life with a R582 but now has a Subaru EA81 so weight is up around 150lbs. Empty weight is now about 650 lbs. The a/c has been standing in a barn for 10 years, but the fabric & steelwork look ok. Just don't know about the wooden wings - built entirely with strutted front & rear spars (like a Karatoo, but wood) has flown 200 hours before being stored. No obvious mouse or bird nests - how can anyone check over a wing like this before first flight? Norman Aviation in Quebec, Canada built the kit, first flew in 1985 or so. The wings are said to be good for 1300 lb at 6g ultimate, but are limited to 850 lbs due to the wing strut attachments - which are to be upgraded so it can be a 2 seater again.
Does anyone out there have any history/info on the safety record on Nordic II wings? Anything/everything appreciated.
