A word of caution! When it comes to $ per HP. a second hand two stroke is hard to beat, but many of us Rotax guys are having to deal with 25 lbs. of worn out rusty tin can hanging out in the slipstream somewhere. Allthough the tempation, (necessity) to do something about it is great, please be careful. That pipe functions as your exhaust valve, your supercharger, and affects timing the intake signal to your fuel system. A lot of serious engineering went into the original. Snowmobile adapt/home brew pipes can often result in poor performance, and on occassion, leanout piston siezure or a tendency for the engine to cut dead when the power band is ecceeded by just a few rpm,(real bad on takeoff). Come on guys, I know we can do better! "Two stroke performance tuning" by A. Graham Bell (not the telephone guy),is probably best reference, (haynes pub), Let's do the math, fire up the welder, and build something good and proper. we could all use it.
