Re: Wagabond built to look like Aviat 110

No. I did not find anything. The people I asked did not know the name, either.

Re: Wagabond built to look like Aviat 110

Building just an Aviat 110, with the Lycoming, would be the goal. The bud Davisson review I read about it suggests a 170 mph cruise and a 68 mph stall. And I think it looks better than the RV's, a...

Wagabond built to look like Aviat 110

How feasible would it be to take an ordinary Wagabond project, lop off some wing, possibly modify the landing gear to look like the Aviat 110(a Monocoupe-like fuselage and wings with a Lycoming)?...

    Re: Rubber press forming

Would any machine shop with a CNC be able to make the form block? Would I just take the rib drawing in, say I need the block made .020 smaller than the drawing, explain the lightening holes, etc and...

    Re: Vortex Generators

I thought if you put threads in "Hangar Flying," opening the conversation up to examples and philosophizing was ok. Besides, I think it is always cool for someone to keep it light.

    Are any of you...

So you can't have more than a 30 degree bank? How about accelerating or decelerating?

    Re: Commuting to work

One of the newer sport pilot CFI's at KHXF lives more than an hour's drive from the airport, on nice days, he drives 15 minutes to his home airport, hops into his C-150 and flies 15 minutes to work.

Re: The one that got away.......

Not to derail the topic, but somebody I know(one of my cousins to be exact) hot wired a Caterpillar bulldozer. He was attending a 21st birthday celebration and one of the neighbors had a bull dozer...
  12. Re: Storch Replica and a few other STOL airplanes compared

Would putting an O-200 on a Cub go that fast? Cubs with C90's are not that much faster(in cruise). As to the single strut idea, would you be able to make a Super beefy rib to carry all the loads?...
  13. Re: Feasability/practicality of composite to construct engine case and reduction gear

Didn't some of the Franklin engines have some sort of plastic gears?

What wood is that? Curly maple? Whatever it is, I want some.
  15. Re: Sometimes I Wonder Why We Build Anything With a Gasolene Engine

Absolutely. With big radials, you can just hear the Glug-glug-glug of the transfer of avgas into awesome smells and the potential of flight. Merlins' sounds are unreplaceable too.
  16. Re: Sometimes I Wonder Why We Build Anything With a Gasolene Engine

Just swagger around in your gear, leather creaking like a wooden sailboat, boots stomping like Clint Eastwood or somebody. It would be more impressive if you had all the patches Maverick did.
  17. Re: Sometimes I Wonder Why We Build Anything With a Gasolene Engine

Are the containers for the LPG heavy? Or can you make them out of composites. What about a special carb system that can deliver LPG to regular aviation engines?...

Have you heard of the Flitzer? They have used VW's in them. It is not an actual replica, just a new designs that looks old to me. http://www.flitzerbiplane.com/

The Russian make an automatic 12Ga shot gun. Recoil is minimal, so dual wielding applies here.
