Hey all,

Work is starting on the Affordaplane, and I had some questions about "registering" it.

I've seen Ultralights with "N" numbers before, but I'm not entirely sure how that works.

Can an Ultralight have an "N" number assigned? If so, does having an "N" number require a license?

The Ultralight flight field near me seems (from what I can tell ) to be offering Sport Pilot training on 2 seater ultralights, but I could be mistaken.

It seems a lot of Ultralight trainers can get re-certed for "Sport Pilot" easily.

My thought were to work on the affordaplane over fall/winter and in spring obtain my Sport Pilot License.

Any information about benefits/drawbacks to an "N" number would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
