Would a Catamaran type helicopter be possible? Such as mating a pair of low end helicopters... Using a Kaman like drive combined with a Chinook? Meshing rotors combined with a Chinook type shaft for syncing the rotors.
Wouldnt it also be the best suited helicopter design to using an airfoil?... the A400M transport gains a lot of extra lift by inverting the rotation of half the engines, in order to get the blades to recede in the same direction. The prop wash then works in unison over the center of the wing. Wouldnt this same effect apply to a catamaran type chopper?
Im fairly certain it could also maintain level flight on a single engine... making it vastly more safe than most low end helicopters.
Forgive me for not including a crappily photoshopped picture, but I think you guys can get it yourself
