Thanks Choppergirl, but I thought it was going to be some Me 163 Komet stuff. Interesting piece though. Thx. I'll check it all when I get a wi fi link.

Interesting - I had grandparents on both sides of the war too. My English grandmother built gun turrets for Lancasters and my German grandfather was drafted towards the end of the war and spent time in trenches on the Russian front. Both survived.

About choppergirl
About Me:
Victory loves preparation, and Fortune favors the bold
No plan survives first enemy contact, and few warriors grow old
I am hatred - I am war - I am everything - You're looking for
Current / Future projects:
I bought my first airplane project, Dorothy, a 1979 Volmer Jensen VJ-24w, one of the worlds first ultralight motor gliders, on ebay for $38.

I bought my second project, Alice, a 1978 Chotia Woodhopper project for $99 off of Barnstormers.
Past Projects:
"Mademoiselle, vous êtes la première aero-chauffeuse du monde!" -- Santos Dumont, 1903

Feel free to message me, I'm generally intelligent, snarky, amusing, cynical, yet entertaining. I will usually talk your head off. I love battle!
My Aviation Interests:
Dad was air traffic controller; grandfather was fighter pilot that flew P40s, P39's, P38's... 171 combat missions. Uncle drove supply truck in Vietnam, and my other grandfather was a motorcycle courier in the Wehrmacht. Crazy huh! But true!
Location (city, state / Country):

CHOPPERGIRL @ AIR-WAR.ORG ~ Flying with Christina
My grandfather flew 171 combat missions in the P-38, P-39, and P-47; my dad was an air traffic controller and 170 pilot; my mom sold travel luggage to Mohamed Atta, the 9/11 hijacker mastermind; I'm restoring Dorothy, a Volmer Jensen VJ-24W motor glider I bought on eBay for $38, and Alice, a Chotia Woodhopper I bought on Barnstormers for $99. I'm in no hurry; doing it to fly, and to learn how to restore hopeless case ultralights.
