OK, an idea taken from another thread: What impact has Part 103 ultralights had on introducing new pilots to aviation. By ultralight, I mean the typical US Part 103 ultralight that does not require a license or specified training curriculum. The draw to ultralights might be the low cost, the freedom, or the thrill seeking, but I feel that the low relative cost is probably the biggest driver; for this reason, I'll include hang gliders in the poll too.
NOTE: Results may be skewed because many of us learned to fly in aircraft before Part 103 ultralights or hang gliders were readily available.
