Vision Microsystems tach reset

I recently changed the backup battery in my Vision Microsystems EPI 800 system in my Glasair III. This resets some of the stored settings as well as the ACTT on the tachometer. Does anyone know how to correct the tach time? The folks at JPI say that I have to send the system in but I think there is a way to do it in the field.
