Anyone here fly a Zenith 701 or a Zodiac?

I'm seriously considering building one of the popular Zenith designs: either a CH701 or a Zodiac XL. Does anyone here have any real-world experience with either of these particular planes...?

My questions:

1. How practical are the Folding Wings of the CH701? Being able to save money by not having to rent a hanger would be a big plus. Are folding wings (or easily detachable wings) possible on the Zodiac XL?

2. Anyone using a Corvair engine in a 701? The Rotax is WAY too expensive, and I see that the Corvair is a popular engine choice in the Zodiac. Thoughts...?

I'm a 6'3" 220lb private pilot, currently flying a Piper Warrior, but I plan to fly under "Sport Pilot" rules in the coming years. I probably will only build one plane in my life, so I'd like to make all the right decisions.

If there's anyone out there on the forum who has built and flown either of these designs, I'd really, really like to hear your opinions.

Thanks,

- Patrick
