Looking at building a Murphy Rebel as a fun stop-gap and going with a fuel-sipping Rotax 912.

I heard my first Rotax via utube the other day though -- sounded like a moped. Is that just the nature of the beast, gear reduction, exhaust selection, or what? Higher-pitch whines annoy me to no end... to the extent that I'd go Lycoming O-320 if need be.
