I'm not a pilot, and reading through a lot of the posts in here, I'm a total newb to building or even recognizing any type of Kit plane. Ive got a question for you guys though.

About 8-12 years ago, I believe I read an article in Popular Science about a kit plane/gyro. The plane could take off vertically and by accelerating, the plane would move forward. It had 2 propellers, one on top, and one in back, which we're ran off the same engine. I think it also said that when slowing down, once it reached a certain speed, it would start to descend vertically, and was using an automobile engine. It also seated either 4 or 5 people. Ive poured over tons of websites to see if I could find anything out about it, but Ive seen nothing. If any of you have any idea what I'm talking about, please post it.

I'd love someday to be able to fly a plane, and eventually build my own, but 4 kids, all of them having expensive extra-curricular activities, makes it difficult right now. One good thing is I'm still very young (33), and will still be when they all leave the house (46).
