Hi,
I recently wrote to Jerome (Raven Redrives) inquiring about his Geo/Metro 3-cylinder engine. I mentioned it was a candidate for a relatively quick (135kt cruise) plane. He replied as follows:
I would tend to steer you away from any engine with a redrive (including ours) as it is not the best option for the cruise speed you specified.

This is new to me. Any comments? How/why would an engine fitted with a redrive be unsuitable for a 135kt cruise airplane? In what way would a direct drive engine be better?

Regards,
Duncan
