Hey all,

Gonna start work on an Affordaplane to "warm up" before tackling my 2 seater lifting body plane.

I'm considering using a Suzuki 500 or 650 CC 4 stroke, since I can get 45-60 HP.

I need to know the typical prop diameter used on an Affordaplane (ordering plans next week) and the maximum rotation speed of said prop, that way I can start figuring out my reduction drive.

I can run either engine all day long at 6000 RPM, so I'm thinking I'll most likely need a 2:1 reduction. For take-offs, I'd imagine I could push up to about 8000 RPM?

However, I can modify the output shaft to drive the prop, since 1st gear is 2.461:1

I keep hearing "Supersonic tip speed = bad"

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.
