It is clear PSRU's are important in combination with modern engines.
For light engines we use Belt reduction, which is less efficient than a chain reduction, but they probably make too much noise. Other possibilities are gearing which might be a bit heavy but they can be reliable.

I have two questions:

1 Can Planetary gears be used succesfully as PSRU? Forces are short coupled and stay in line with the crankshaft.

2 Is it possible to use a PSRU with chain reduction? Chains can have high torques, and are about 98% efficient.
