As promised in my last thread,
What do you think is the best size for Plans sheets?

Here are the sizes i am looking at.

8 1/2 x 11, not a very good size, too small and cannot fit a good amount of info. A plus is that it can be used with a regular ink jet or laser printer.

8 1/2 x 14, a little better but still too small for my liking. Although can still use a regular printer.

11 x 17, Alot better, bigger can fit images for better viewing than the smaller sizes. Is readily available in different colors and thickness, fairly inexpensive. Bad point, need special printer to fit paper size. Color Ink jets start at about $300.00 and Color laser printers start about $1000.

13 x 17, In my opinion the best size, the sheets can be handled semi-easy, Large amounts of detail or multible items can be placed on the same sheet.
Bad points, hard to obtain and is a bit pricey compared to the smaller ones, even if pricing by the case. Needs special printer, amazingly at about the same cost as for the 11 x 17

Larger sizes would no doubt be harder to handle and require being printed at a print shop. I like the idea of being able to print at home and see the product on a hardcopy as it develops. I think it is worth the extra investment to print it myself. I have half-a-dozen plans that use large full size prints (36" x varying lenghts) and truely i hate opening them up. They take an enormous amount of room just the look at them. As i see it my Project does not really need any full size prints and if it does it would only be a few that could be specially printed.

That brings up an additional question. Would a Inkjet printer be ok for printing plans? Are inkjets good choice for plans? Not sure about the longevity of inkjet prints. I know that Laser printers are alot better when it come to standing up to the test of time, but when you compare the price is it worth it?

Just looking for your opinion on the matter if you have one!:)
