I have been looking at amphibs like the Akoya and the Norwegian Equator, NEXT PARADIGM SPEC ----- AUTOMATED. EFFICIENT. USABLE. SUSTAINABLE. MOBILITY was wondering what the implications were of mounting the propellor on the tail. These are tractor props. I like the Equator for a couple of reasons- One, I am of Norwegian descent and two, it is a serial hybrid, which allows mounting of an electric motor on the tail instead of an entire gas engine/propellor.
What are the drawbacks of this type of installation?
I also wonder if the stabilizers/rudders/elevators have to be oversized to allow for engine-out operation? I would think so, from all that I have read in various other forums.
Thoughts?
